Cancelling your subscription

How to cancel

Go to Account → Settings → Subscription. Click "Cancel subscription" at the bottom of the page. You'll be asked to confirm and optionally provide a reason for cancelling (this helps us improve). Once confirmed, your subscription is set to cancel at the end of your current billing period.

What happens at the end of your billing period

When your billing period ends after cancellation:

• Your account moves to the free Starter tier
• If you have more than 5 active listings, excess listings are automatically paused (not deleted)
• API keys are deactivated (Breeder tier only)
• Pairing and waitlist management features become read-only
• The Verified Breeder badge is temporarily hidden until you resubscribe
• Your profile, listing history, reviews, and messages are all preserved

Your data after cancellation

Cancelling your subscription does not delete your account or any of your data. Your profile, all your listing history (including sold and expired listings), your review record, and your message history remain completely intact. You can browse the marketplace, receive messages, and use Herpify on the free tier indefinitely after cancelling.

Reactivating after cancellation

If you cancel and later want to return to a paid plan, go to Account → Settings → Subscription and click "Resubscribe". All your historical data is still there. Your paused listings can be reactivated immediately. If you had Verified Breeder status, it restores automatically — you don't need to re-verify.

Cancelling vs deleting your account

Cancelling your subscription and deleting your account are very different things. Cancellation just moves you to the free tier while keeping all your data. Account deletion is permanent and removes everything. If you need a break from Herpify, cancel your subscription rather than deleting your account — it's much easier to return.
