Questions
What exactly does "free forever" mean?
Your Breeder-tier account stays free for life — not for 12 months, not until the next pricing review. We pin the founding status to your account. As long as you keep at least one active listing per calendar year, it stays with you permanently.
Why are 50 breeders getting this free?
Because a marketplace without real breeders, real listings, and real reputations is just a website. We need the first cohort to be serious operators, not casual posters. In exchange, we're asking two things: use Herpify when it makes sense for your sales, and report what breaks so we can fix it.
Is there any commission or transaction fee?
None, ever. Herpify charges a flat subscription — not a cut of your sale. What you sell your animals for is between you and the buyer. We make money from non-founding subscriptions and (eventually) advertising from brands in the hobby. Your sales are yours.
Who qualifies as a breeder?
If you've successfully produced a clutch, litter, or live young from a pairing you set up yourself, you qualify. Hobbyist or full-time, three animals or three hundred. We're not gatekeeping scale — we're confirming you actually breed.
What happens after I apply?
We review applications in the order they arrive. If you're approved, you'll get an email with your founding-breeder onboarding link within 48 hours. From there, a 60-second Stripe Identity check gets you the Verified Breeder badge, and you can create your first pairing and list your first animal.
What if all 50 spots are gone when I apply?
You'll pay for Breeder tier at the standard rate (currently $X/month, with 50% off your first 3 months using code HAPPYHERPING). Every feature remains the same. Only the price changes.
