Cookie Policy
Last updated: 10 April 2026
This Cookie Policy explains how Herpify ("we", "us", or "our") uses cookies and similar tracking technologies on Herpify.com (the "Platform"). It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains more about how we handle your personal information.
1. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device (computer, tablet, or phone) when you visit it. They are widely used to make websites work, or work more efficiently, and to provide information to the website's operators. We also use similar technologies such as local storage, session storage, and pixel tags. For the purposes of this policy, we refer to all of these as "cookies".
2. Categories of Cookies We Use
Strictly necessary cookies (always on)
These cookies are essential for the Platform to function. They cannot be switched off in our systems because the site would not work without them. They are typically set in response to actions you take, such as logging in, filling in forms, or setting your privacy preferences.
- Authentication: Clerk sets session cookies so you stay signed in.
- Security: CSRF tokens and rate-limit identifiers used to protect your account.
- Consent state: We store your cookie consent choice in
localStorageunder the keyherpify_cookie_consentso we don't have to ask you on every page. - Load balancing & routing: Infrastructure cookies set by our hosting provider.
Preference cookies
These remember choices you make to give you a better experience, for example your selected country, theme (light/dark), and listing view preferences. They do not track you across other websites.
Analytics cookies (require consent)
We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand how visitors use the Platform so we can improve it. These cookies collect information in an aggregated form, such as the number of visitors, which pages are most popular, and how users move through the site. GA4 is only loaded after you accept analytics cookies. If you decline or have not yet chosen, no analytics cookies are set.
Marketing cookies
We do not currently run third-party advertising networks or retargeting pixels. If that changes, we will update this policy and request fresh consent before any marketing cookies are set.
3. Third-Party Cookies
Some cookies on the Platform are set by third-party services that we use. We do not control these cookies. Check the relevant third party's own policy for more information.
- Clerk: authentication and session management (strictly necessary).
- Stripe: payment processing and fraud prevention on checkout and billing pages (strictly necessary when you interact with payment flows).
- Google Analytics 4: traffic analytics (analytics, consent required).
- Mapbox: map tile delivery on location pickers and listing maps (strictly necessary for the feature to work; does not set tracking cookies).
- Cloudflare / hosting provider: DDoS protection and routing (strictly necessary).
4. Your Consent
When you first visit Herpify, we show a consent banner that asks whether you want to allow analytics cookies. Strictly necessary cookies are always on because the site cannot function without them. Analytics cookies are off by default and will only load after you click "Accept". If you click "Decline", GA4 will not be loaded and no analytics cookies will be set.
Your choice is stored locally on your device. If you clear your browser storage or use a different device or browser, you will be asked again.
5. Managing Your Preferences
You can change your cookie preferences at any time by clicking the "Cookie preferences" link in the footer of every page. You can also manage or delete cookies directly in your browser settings. Most browsers let you block all cookies, block third-party cookies, or delete cookies that have already been set. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may prevent parts of the Platform from working correctly (for example, you may not be able to sign in).
6. Do Not Track
Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" (DNT) signal. There is no consistent industry standard for how sites should respond to DNT, so we do not currently act on DNT headers separately. Your best way to opt out of analytics is to decline the consent banner or clear your stored consent and choose again.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in technology, legislation, or our practices. When we make material changes we will update the "Last updated" date at the top and, where appropriate, ask you for fresh consent.
8. Contact Us
