How to get Verified Breeder status
What the Verified Breeder badge means, what's required to get it, how to apply, and what happens after you submit.
What the Verified Breeder badge means
The green Verified Breeder badge on a profile signals to buyers that Herpify has reviewed and confirmed the seller's identity through Stripe — a trusted, automated government ID check. It's a trust signal — not a guarantee of any specific outcome — but data consistently shows that buyers are significantly more likely to contact and purchase from verified sellers than unverified ones.
Who can apply
Verification is available to Breeder tier subscribers only. Your subscription must be active at the time of application and at the time of review. You can apply at any point after subscribing to the Breeder tier.
What you'll need to provide
All applications require a government-issued photo ID (passport or driver's licence), verified automatically through Stripe. If your country has a keeper licence system, you can also optionally provide your licence number to build additional trust with local buyers.
- Government-issued photo ID (passport or driver's licence) — verified via Stripe
- Reptile keeper or breeder licence number (optional — helps build trust with local buyers)
- Optional: business registration documents if operating as a business entity
Important note
Your ID is verified by Stripe and never seen or stored by Herpify. Licence numbers (if provided) are encrypted at rest and not displayed publicly.
How to apply
Go to Account → Settings → Verification. Click Start Verification and complete the quick identity check powered by Stripe — takes about 60 seconds. You'll receive an email confirmation the moment it's done. Most checks complete in minutes.
After you apply
You'll receive an email when a decision is made. If approved, the Verified Breeder badge appears on your profile and all your listings immediately. If additional information is needed, you'll be asked to resubmit with the required documents. If your application is rejected (this is rare), the rejection email will explain why and whether you can reapply.
Keeping your badge
Verified status is tied to an active Breeder subscription. If your subscription lapses or you downgrade, your badge is temporarily hidden until your subscription is restored. Your verification record is retained — you don't need to re-verify, just reactivate your subscription.
