Listing expiry and renewal
How long listings stay active, what happens when they expire, and how to renew or extend a listing.
How long listings stay active
Listings on Herpify are active for 90 days from the date of publication. On day 75, you'll receive an email reminder that your listing is approaching expiry. On day 90, if you haven't renewed, the listing changes to EXPIRED status and is removed from active search results.
What happens when a listing expires
An expired listing is not deleted — it's archived and remains accessible in Account → Listings under "Expired". Your view counts, inquiry history, and all listing content are preserved. You can renew it at any time to bring it back to active status.
How to renew a listing
Go to Account → Listings → Expired. Find the listing you want to renew and click "Renew". Before renewing, you'll be prompted to confirm that the listing details are still accurate — update the description, photos, or price if anything has changed. Once renewed, the listing goes back to active status and restarts the 90-day clock.
Important note
Renewing a listing without updating it is a missed opportunity. Buyers who saw the listing the first time are more likely to inquire if something has changed — a price drop, a new photo, or an updated feeding note.
Auto-renewal
Breeder tier subscribers can enable auto-renewal for individual listings in the listing's settings. When auto-renewal is on, the listing automatically renews for another 90 days when it expires — no action needed. This is useful for breeding project advertisements or Breeder-type listings that represent your ongoing availability rather than a specific animal.
Listings and subscription changes
If you downgrade your subscription tier and you're over the new tier's listing limit, your excess listings are automatically paused (not deleted). They'll reactivate if you upgrade again or once your active listing count drops below the limit through sales or manual archiving.
