Blocking or reporting a user
How to block someone from messaging you, how to report a user for misconduct, and what happens after you report.
Your safety is our priority
If someone is harassing, threatening, or scamming you, take action immediately. Blocking stops contact. Reporting triggers our moderation team to investigate.
Blocking a user
Blocking prevents a user from sending you new messages and from viewing your profile. To block someone: open a conversation with them in Account → Messages, click the three-dot menu at the top of the conversation, and select "Block user". Alternatively, go to their profile and click the three-dot menu near their name. Blocking is immediate and silent — the blocked user is not notified.
Important note
Blocking a user does not delete your existing conversation history. You can still access the conversation but cannot send or receive new messages within it.
Unblocking a user
To unblock: go to Account → Settings → Blocked Users, find the user in your blocked list, and click "Unblock". This restores messaging between you.
Reporting a user
Reporting flags a user to Herpify's moderation team for investigation. You can report from a conversation (three-dot menu → Report), from a user's profile, or from within a listing. When reporting, choose the most accurate reason from the list and add as much context as you can. Screenshots of specific messages are the most useful evidence.
- Harassment or threatening behaviour
- Suspected scam or fraud
- Off-platform payment pressure
- Impersonation of another user or business
- Sharing illegal content or making illegal offers
- Suspected underage user
You can both block and report
Blocking and reporting are separate actions. If someone has harassed or threatened you, block them to stop further contact and report them so moderators can investigate. Blocking alone doesn't flag the issue to Herpify — reporting does.
What happens after a report
Reports are reviewed by a member of our moderation team, typically within 24–48 hours. We may take action including a warning, temporary restriction, or permanent ban depending on what we find. You'll receive an email when the report has been reviewed. Due to user privacy, we may not be able to share the specific outcome.
