Pairing Manager

How the Pairing Manager works

A complete overview of the Pairing Manager — what it tracks, how the 6-stage breeding timeline works, and how waitlists turn upcoming clutches into pre-sold animals.

What is the Pairing Manager?

The Pairing Manager lets you record every stage of a breeding cycle — from the day you introduce your pair through to hatch. It's a live record that buyers can follow in real time, and the mechanism that lets you build a waitlist for animals that don't exist yet. Every stage you log builds buyer confidence. By the time hatchlings arrive, your clutch is already spoken for.

  • Log sire × dame genetics with species and morph detail
  • Track 6 breeding milestones with exact dates
  • Attach stage-tagged photos to each part of the cycle
  • Open a waitlist so buyers can claim a spot before eggs hatch
  • Link hatchling marketplace listings once animals are ready to sell
  • Organise all pairings by season for a full breeding programme overview

Who can use it?

The Pairing Manager is available on the Trader plan and above. Free and Starter accounts can view the feature page but will need to upgrade before creating pairings.

The 6 breeding stages

Every pairing moves through up to 6 stages. You don't have to log all of them — but each stage you record builds buyer trust and keeps your waitlist engaged.

  • Introduced ❤️ — The day you put your pair together. Sets the starting point for the whole timeline.
  • Locked 🔒 — Confirmed copulation observed. Tells buyers the pairing was successful and fertilisation is likely.
  • Pre-lay shed ✂️ — Dame sheds before laying. A reliable signal that eggs are 2–4 weeks away.
  • Laid 🥚 — Eggs in the box. Log the clutch size so buyers can gauge availability.
  • Pipping 🐣 — Eggs are cutting. Hatch is typically 48–72 hours away. Your most-engaged buyers are checking in daily.
  • Hatched 🦎 — Hatchlings are out. Log the final count, create listings, and your waitlist is notified automatically.

How pairings appear to buyers

Your pairings are visible on your breeder profile page. Buyers can see the breeding timeline with completed stages and dates, stage-tagged photos, clutch size and expected hatch date, and your active waitlist. The more complete your record, the more credible your profile — and the higher your waitlist conversion.

The investment loop

Every stage you log is a small investment — from you in record-keeping, and from your buyer in emotional engagement. Buyers who follow a pairing from Introduction through to Pip aren't browsing any more. They've been watching for weeks. They've seen the lock photo, the eggs, the pip. By hatch day, they're not deciding whether to buy — they're deciding how many.
